About the Alliance of Legal Document Assistant Professionals

The Alliance of Legal Document Assistant Professionals, Inc. (ALDAP) is comprised of experienced legal professionals who have joined forces to boost consumer protection and increase the professional integrity of the legal document assistant (LDA) and paralegal professions. Members of our association share an impassioned desire to bring recognition and credibility to our chosen profession, and an unparalleled commitment to responsibility in the delivery of self-help legal services.

In furtherance of ALDAP’s goals of professional integrity and consumer protection, the association offers LDAs and dual-professional paralegal/LDAs the opportunity to take part in an established network that affords additional educational and practical resources; materials to educate the public about non-attorney legal services; an organized effort to combat the unfair and dangerous business practices of rogue “paralegals” and other unregistered legal document preparers; and increased recognition of the vital and growing role LDAs play in California’s legal system.

ALDAP was incorporated on May 14, 2007 as a non-profit corporation, organized under California's Nonprofit Mutual Benefit Corporation Law. ALDAP is a 501(c)(6) tax-exempt organization.
