Kat retired from the law firm of McDonough Holland & Allen (Sacramento) in early 2005, and registered as a Legal Document Assistant soon thereafter. Kat works as a “dual” professional, actively working both as a paralegal and as an LDA. Together with business partner and Technical Sage, Michael Brinsley, she owns and operates Catalyst Legal, a dynamic state of the art self-help legal and technology service center providing clients the ability to research and create legal documents and forms on their own or with assistance using a registered and bonded Legal Document Assistant. Suzanne Ervine, Vice President Following a successful career in philanthropy, Suzanne transitioned to the legal field in 2001. In 2006, she left her position as a corporate paralegal and registered as a Legal Document Assistant. She established Red Sky Legal to provide self-help legal services to consumers and paralegal services to California attorneys. Suzanne is bonded and registered as an LDA in San Diego County, and practices as a freelance paralegal. She is also a commissioned Notary Public. Suzanne received her Paralegal Certificate, with Honors, from the University of San Diego. Upon graduation, she was honored with both the Top Business Litigation Student Award and the Legal Research and Writing Award. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, cum laude, from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and holds a Certificate in Management Techniques for the Non-Profit Organization. In addition to maintaining two blawgs for her LDA practice, In Propria Persona and The Contractor’s Secret Weapon, Suzanne is a contributor to SCRIBE, ParalegalGateway, and CHS-Law’s Legal Tips & Commentary. Jeanne Wierson, Director of Compliance & Ethics Jeanne holds a certificate in paralegal studies, and has attained the Certified Paralegal designation from the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). She graduated from Palomar College, with Honors, attaining two degrees, accounting and paralegal, in addition to her paralegal certificate. Jeanne has more than 30 years experience in the accounting and business profession and has melded this background with her legal experience to build a superior estate accounting practice used in both the family and probate law fields. In addition to working for the public, litigation and family law attorneys, and premier attorneys specializing in probate law and estate planning, Jeanne was a probate examiner with the Riverside Superior Court. As a former document examiner for the court, she understands the problems individuals run into completing and filing their legal documents, and getting their matter through our court system. Through her company Legal Document Service, Jeanne provides legal document assistant services to the public and paralegal services to attorneys. Moira Boyle, Director of Fundraising & Membership Born, raised and schooled in Southern California, Moira is a legal multi-professional in Orange County. She is an experienced paralegal, family law mediator and a registered legal document assistant. Through her Anaheim Hills practice, The Legal Doc, Moira specializes in family law matters including divorce, custody and support modification. In 2008 Moira launched The QDRO Doc after being inspired by the collection of $189,000 in child support arrears from a Deadbeat Dad. In 1989 Moira received her Paralegal Certificate at The University of LaVerne’s College of Law. In 1991 she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies from the University of LaVerne. Moira is a bonded Legal Document Assistant and registered in the County of Orange. In addition, Moira is a freelance paralegal serving law firms in Orange and Los Angeles Counties. Moira has completed over 160 hours of evaluated learning to earn her certificate in Conflict Management and the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution from University of California, Irvine. Moira has also met the requirement under Business & Professions Code § 465 for completion of the 25-hour Dispute Resolution and mediation training, at UCI, where she also received her Mediation Certificate. Moira has been a guest speaker at UCI’s Domestic Relations Mediation course, and has also volunteered as a small claims mediator for the Orange County Superior Court. In 2007 Moira co-founded ALDAP and served as its founding President. Moira has also served as Director of Public Relations and Vice President of the California Association Legal Document Assistants.
