The Alliance of Legal Document Assistant Professionals, Inc. (ALDAP) offers the experienced legal document assistant (LDA) and dual-professional paralegal/LDA a professional association that promotes the highest quality work product, absolute mastery of ethics and consumer protection, and regulatory compliance that is above reproach. Further, membership in ALDAP is only awarded upon successful completion of an exam, so ALDAP members enjoy a credential that distinguishes them from the pack: demonstrated commitment to ethical principles and proven command of the technical aspects of an LDA’s day-to-day practice.

Candidates for membership in ALDAP must be bonded and registered as a legal document assistant (LDA) in accordance with Business & Professions Code §§ 6400, et seq., meet the minimum education and experience required of paralegals (Bus. & Prof. Code §§ 6450, et seq.), pass a brief examination covering both ethics and LDA practice, and be of good moral character. By establishing minimum paralegal education requirements, the association assures consumers that the ALDAP member they entrust with their legal documents is on the cutting edge of new developments in the self-help legal movement, and maintains adequate continuing legal education in both general law and legal ethics.

Student memberships are available to those currently enrolled in an accredited paralegal certificate or degree program.
